The job of School Board members is to treat every kid with the same urgency we treat our own.

About Gordon

My hope in running for the board is to help guarantee that all kids in Eugene get an education that challenges them, that engages them, that makes them feel like the world is an interesting place they’re capable of exploring, and that helps them grow up as full, confident human beings.  To make that happen – and to make the best of our limited budget – it is critical that the voices of teachers, paraprofessionals, parents and students have a powerful role in shaping school policies.

Equity and Inclusion

4J schools must be places where all students – including LGBTQ, students of color, English language learners, students of diverse abilities, class background and immigration status – are welcomed, honored and respected.

Pre-Apprenticeship

I want to help 4J become the first school district in Oregon to provide pre-apprenticeship training for students interested in going into the building trades.

Attracting and Keeping Great Teachers

Let’s show our teachers the respect they deserve by ensuring the best pay and benefits possible, by providing mentors to new teachers for the support they need, and by listening to the voices of those who are in the classroom every day.

Class Size

4J should be doing everything it can to reduce class size, especially in Kindergarten through 3rd grades, and especially in schools serving the neediest communities.
